Introduction to the IEEE CAS Society Shanghai Chapter
The IEEE Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society Shanghai Chapter was founded in 2001. Under the leadership of the founding president Prof. Zhenya He and the second president Prof. Chen He, the IEEE CAS Shanghai Chapter has developed a number of academic activities enthusiastically within the Shanghai and eastern area of China. In recent years, with the help of some universities within the eastern area of China, the Shanghai Chapter has organized several international conferences and workshops, such as IEEE IWVDVT2005 (IEEE International workshop on VLSI Design and Video Technology 2005) held in Suzhou and IEEE ICNNSP2008 (IEEE International Conference on Neural Networks and Signal Processing 2008) in Zhenjiang. And with the cooperation with some other CAS societies, the Shanghai Chapter has also organized or co-organized some very well attended international conferences such as IEEE Primeasia2009 (IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Postgraduate Research in Microelectronics & Electronics 2009) held in Shanghai, IEEE CASS SSJW’07~SSJW’09 (IEEE CAS Society Shanghai-Shikoku Chapters Joint Workshop 2007, 2008, 2009) held in Shanghai and Shikoku, respectively. At the same time, a number of Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) events have been presented in the Shanghai area and many IEEE CASS Distinguished Lecturers were invited to give interesting lectures to young students or young researchers who are interested in the CAS areas, such as Prof. Zhiping Lin, Prof. Yong Lian and so on. Besides those DLPs, many other academic activities and discussions are often carried out in campuses or different kinds of meetings. IEEE CAS Society Shanghai Chapter also dedicates to develop CAS Society members and student members within the area. In 2005, IEEE CAS Society Shanghai Chapter has received the IEEE CAS Society Best Chapter Award, which was a great honor to the whole chapter. The objective of IEEE CAS Society Shanghai Chapter in the future is to give more suitable services to the members, organize or help hold more academic and technical activities, and develop quickly along with the fast progress in the areas of circuits and systems, corresponding areas within communications and signal processing or other relate cross areas.
