A Day of Innovation and Collaboration: IEEE CASS Outreach Day in Shanghai

Introduction

The bustling city of Shanghai played host to a remarkable event as the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) gathered distinguished guests and members for a day of networking, knowledge sharing, and exploration of the future of electrical engineering. The IEEE CASS Day event, held at E-Coffee, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and Buckingham Grand Hotel, was a resounding success, featuring insightful presentations and valuable interactions.

IEEE CASS Day in Shanghai, a gathering of leading minds in the field of electrical engineering, witnessed the participation of notable figures. Among the attendees were IEEE CASS Vice President Yoshifumi Nishio, IEEE CASS Past Vice President Guoxing Wang, and IEEE CASS Board of Governors (BoG) R10 Yongfu Li. The event also welcomed members of CASS Chapters (Chongqing, Hangzhou, Hefei, Shanghai, Shandong, Wuhan) and Student Branch Chapters from various universities.

Networking Lunch at E-Coffee

The event kicked off with a networking lunch at E-Coffee, providing a perfect backdrop for members to connect and share ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. This lunch was more than just a meal; it was an opportunity for like-minded professionals to forge new connections and reinforce existing ones.

Welcome Talk by Prof. Yoshifumi Nishio

The afternoon session commenced with an inspiring welcome talk by Yoshifumi Nishio, IEEE CASS Vice President. His speech not only welcomed the attendees but also shed light on the society's vision and future initiatives, setting a motivational tone for the day. He also shared how we can create more vibrant chapter with the members from the student branch chapters.

Discussions on Regional Activities and Chapter Highlights

Yongfu Li, IEEE CASS BoG R10, delved into the regional activities and achievements of IEEE CASS, showcasing the impactful work being done across different chapters. Jian Zhao’s talk on IEEE CASS Africa Outreach Activities was particularly enlightening, demonstrating the society's global reach and commitment to fostering international collaboration.

Student Branch Activities

The focus then shifted to the younger generation, with Jiarui Xu and Suo Yanxing presenting on the IEEE CASS Student Branch Activities at Huazhong university of science and technology (HUST) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), emphasizing the importance of student involvement in the society.
